About
Sebastião Lobo is a Lisbon-based artist known for his distinct craftsmanship and his ability to transform materials into sculptural worlds that feel both surreal and alive. Preferring to communicate through objects rather than words, he creates pieces that evoke insect-like forms, shadowed landscapes, and dreamlike narratives. His work pulls viewers into intimate microcosms where beauty, strangeness, and imagination intertwine.
Driven by a belief that any material can hold creative potential, Sebastião’s atelier is a space of constant experimentation filled with found objects and unexpected textures that become the starting point for new ideas.
This same spirit underpins the UBUNTO Project, a social and artistic initiative he founded in Kibera, Kenya. UBUNTO supports local artisans through fair wages, hands-on training, and collaborations with international partners such as Brother Vellies, Galerie du Paradis, and Studio KO. The project aims to expand into a full community workshop and training center for youth.
Across both his personal work and UBUNTO, Sebastião shares one vision: to use craft as a tool for transformation, storytelling, and meaningful human connection.
